Biodatabase

In organic farming is the use of biological propagating material is promoted. Growers therefore need to know if there are seeds, plants or trees available for organic farming. There is also the legal requirement to use organic propagation material if sufficient seeds/plants/ trees are available.

Naktuinbouw is requested by the Ministry of EL&I to maintain a database in which the availability of organic propagating material is shown for each crop. Within crops the varieties are listed for which organic propagating material is available. Companies that make organic propagation material available have to inform Naktuinbouw. These companies are also responsible for the changes in the availability of varieties and inform Naktuinbouw.
